We are proud to announce that our founder and honorary president, Antoni Tió, has been awarded an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), in recognition of his career and contribution to the development of the nautical sector in Barcelona.
During his speech, the newly named Doctor Honoris Causa highlighted the transformation of the sector:
“The nautical sector, once small, fragmented and seen as elitist, must become —and is becoming— a strong economic sector, with added value and quality jobs. With the support of the Barcelona School of Nautical Studies and the UPC, the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic is helping bring the spirit of the blue economy to Barcelona. Socially and environmentally sustainable.”
From the Clúster, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Antoni Tió for his vision, leadership, and everything he has contributed to the sector. A well-deserved recognition for a key figure in the transformation of the nautical industry in our city.
