Antoni Tió Sauleda, founder and current honorary president of the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). The proposal was put forward by the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona (FNB) and approved on March 25, with the support of various institutions and sports organizations.
Tió is a key figure in both the Catalan and international nautical sectors, with a distinguished career marked by his involvement in numerous companies and organizations. A passionate advocate for the sea and nautical culture, he has played a vital role in the growth and promotion of the industry from business, institutional, and social perspectives.
Professor Agustí Martín Mallofré, Dean of the FNB and sponsor of the investiture ceremony, will present the honorary degree. The FNB is also one of the partner institutions of the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic, an organization Tió founded and led as executive president before taking on the role of honorary president.
